Sabudana Vada Recipe(Sago Seeds Pattice)Step By Step Pictures

Sabudana vada also called ‘sago vada’, is a traditional deep-fried snack from Maharashtra, India. It is often served with spicy green chutney. Sabudana vada are the best option to have when fasting. Therefore, this filling and nutritious snack is served usually during religious festivals and during fast/vrat/upvaas especially in Navratri vrats.
Sabudana vadas are crunchy and simply melt in the mouth leaving the stomach full and the tongue craving for more.

Sago seeds Vada

Prep time: 5 hours | Cooking time: 20 mins |
Type :breakfast | Serves 3-4

Ingredients

Sago(Sabudana seeds) – 1 cup
Boiled Potato – 1 big sized
Jeera – 1 tsp
Peanuts – 1/3 cup
Ginger paste – 1/2 tsp
Green Chilli – 1 finely chopped
Lemon juice – 1 tsp
Sugar – 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves – 1.5 tbsp finely chopped
Salt – to taste

Let’s prepare sabudana vada step by step

Clean and wash the sabudana. Soak them in enough water just to immerse it well.After 2-3 hours sabudana will absorb the water and will become soft. Add a little more water and leave it some time, if needed.You can check whether sago have absorbed the water or not by pressing it with your fingers, it will be soft, Set aside. Roast peanuts till it gets crunchy.

Take a mixing bowl add sago,peanut powder,mashed potato,jeera, ginger paste, green chilli, lime juice,sugar, coriander leaves and required salt.

P1070357Pinch lemon sized ball and shape them into vadas.

Make all the vadas ready.

vadaHeat oil in a wok add the sago vadas , carefully turn over and cook till golden brown on both sides.Cook it in medium flame to avoid burning.

TIPS-

  • Choose the bigger variety of sago seeds for making vadas recipe.
  • Do not fry for more time, then the vadas will turn bitter, make sure you take them when its golden brown.
  •  If you like spicy food add more chilies to your sabudana vadas.

Recipe Notes

Choose the bigger variety of sago seeds for making vadas recipe.
