How to make aloo beans recipe

Aloo beans recipe is a simple yet delicious dry potato curry made with french beans. In summer season many of us are not able eat hot spicy curries, so this easy aloo beans stir fry is a very good alternative. This aloo beans recipe can be made in very less amount of oil using basic spices. This dry potato curry goes well with chapatis. I love to make this beans potato curry often in my kitchen as it is a good source of carbohydrate and contains goodness of veggies. The key point of this dish is sauteing. The more you saute the better will be result.
Aloo beans recipe is a north Indian style curry and serves as a great side dish 🙂

Ingredients

  • 1 cup- French beans
  • 4 Potatoes medium size
  • ¼- Cumin seeds
  • A pinch of Carom seeds(Ajwain)
  • ¼ tsp -Garam masala powder
  • 2 tbsp- Mustard Oil
  • ½ tsp- Turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp- Red chilli flakes/ powder
  • ½ tsp – Dry mango powder (Amchur powder) (optional)
  • Salt – As per taste

Let’s prepare aloo beans recipe step by step

How to make aloo bean curry

First cut the potatoes into cubes and french beans. Wash the veggies thoroughly. Put a sauce pan on medium flame and pour oil in it. Once oil gets heat up add cumin seeds and carom seeds. Let them crackle then add potatoes to the pan. make french bean aloo curry

Saute the potatoes on medium flame and cover it with lid. Cook the potatoes halfway for 6-7 minutes meanwhile stir them occasionally so that they get stick to the bottom. After 7 min check the potatoes, till now they must be halfway done. Now add the french beans and again saute for 1 minute. Now add the spices that is red chili flakes, turmeric powder and salt except garam masala.french bean aloo recipe

Mix it thoroughly and now cook the aloo beans open means without covering for 10 to 12 minutes.
Note– without lid moisture evaporates, it doesn’t let aloo beans to become soggy. You will get nice and crunchy sauteed aloo beans . If you are in hurry you may cook it with lid on, this will make process faster.
After 10 minutes of cooking check that aloo beans are cooked now and then sprinkle garam masala.

Tips 

  • I have not used amchur powder in this recipe as I don’t want my aloo beans recipe to be tangy in flavor. You may add it If you wish.
  • You may have noticed that I have used very less quantity of garam masala If you want it to a bit more spicy add more of it.
