How to make chilli paneer recipe at home
Chilli Paneer is a very popular Indo Chinese Recipe,which almost every one likes to eat,even its favourite one of mine too. Its very nutritious and delicious. If you are making it dry, can have it as a starter or as a side dish with your meal. I have made here the gravy version of chilli paneer which you can have with fried rice of your choice in main course . So lets begin.

Ingredients for Chilli Paneer with Gravy
250 grams Paneer (Cottage cheese), cut it into medium-sized cubes
Oil for deep-frying
For batter
4 tablespoon Corn flour
3 teaspoon All purpose flour
½ teaspoon Black pepper
1 teaspoon Salt
Water as required
For sauce
1 Green chillies
1 small capsicum,
1 small onion
3 cloves garlic
1 stalk celery
1 inch ginger piece
Sauces required
2 teaspoon White vinegar
½ teaspoon Sugar
4 teaspoon Soya sauce
3 teaspoon Tomato sauce
1 tablespoon Chilli sauce
½ teaspoon black pepper
Water as required
Step by step chilli paneer
How to Prepare Batter
Step 1. Take a mixing bowl and add all-purpose flour, black pepper crushed, 2 tablespoons of cornflour and salt. (Save rest of cornflour for sauce preparation. ) Add some water and mix them well to form a thick paste. Paste should be in pouring consistency. (refer pics)
The thickness of the paste should be such that it can coat paneer cubes completely .
Step 2. Now take a frying pan and add oil to deep fry paneer cubes, heat it on medium flame. Then, dip paneer pieces in the batter, coat them properly and fry them in a pan till they become golden brown in color. Transfer them to a paper towel. Keep them aside.
Let’s prepare the sauce
Step 3. Chop the veggies capsicum, onion, garlic, green chillies, celery and ginger.
Step 4. Take 2 tbsp of oil in a pan and heat it over high flame. Add onion, garlic,celery,green chilies and capsicum, stir well and cook them until they get half-cooked.
Step 5. Then add sugar, pepper, all the sauces, vinegar, salt and 4 teaspoon water, stir well and cook on medium heat for 1 minute. Do not add too much salt as soya sauce contains it’s own salt.
Step 6. Prepare cornflour paste. Add 2 tablespoon of cornflour in 4 tablespoon of water.
Then add ½ cup of water to the pan and bring the mixture to boil. Then, add cornflour mixture to it and let the mixture boil again until you get the desired thickness of gravy. Stir in intermittently.
Step 7. Add paneer pieces to the pan and stir well, put the heat to low and cook for 3-4 mins, stirring well until they become piping hot. Then, turn off the heat and serve immediately. Serve Chilli Paneer with Gravy hot with noodles or fried rice.
TIPS
- You can also make this dish Vegan by substituting Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese) with tofu.
- Sauce making is done on high flame so be fast and carefull else it will catch fire.
- Do not skip the celery because it’s a important ingredient which helps us to bring restaurant style taste in your chilli paneer dish.
- If you want to make dry version of chili paneer skip the addition of water and cornflour paste.
- If you are not going to serve it immediately, don’t add paneer cubes else they will become soggy. Mix them just before serving.
