Pomegranate lassi is a yogurt based smoothie prepared with pomegranate. Pomengrante is called ‘Anar’ in hindi language so this lassi drink can also be called ‘Anar Lassi’. I love to use pomegranate in my recipes because it is the most beautiful fruit and a lot healthier. There are many health benefit of pomegranate, I have listed the major one below!!

  1. It is the most powerful anti-oxidant of all fruits present.
  2. Potent anti-cancer and immune supporting effects.
  3. Inhibits abnormal platelet aggregation that could cause heart attacks, strokes and embolic disease
  4. It is proven that taking daily 50 ml glass of pomegranate juice over three years reduced the damage caused by cholesterol.
  5. It lowers blood pressure.
  6. May have benefits to relieve or protect against depression and osteoporosis.

Healthy pomegranate lassi recipe

Anar lassi is a quick recipe, can be prepared in just 5 minutes. It is one the super food that infuses your body full of energy without having too much calories. Let’s see how to prepare it.

Ingredients

½ cup of Pomegranate seeds
1 cup of thick yogurt or Greek yogurt
A pinch of cardamom powder
2 tablespoon Honey or sugar
½ teaspoon kewra essence or rose-water
A few pistachios to garnish
A few pomegranate seeds to garnish

Let’s prepare pomegranate lassi

First grind the pomegranate seeds in a mixer jar. Then sieve the juice to get rid of any crushed seeds. Chop few pistachios and save rest for garnishing.

Now in a big mixer bowl add yogurt, pomegranate juice, pistachios,cardamom and honey. Mix everything thoroughly with a whisk. For this step you can also use hand blender, it makes blending easy.

Now you will see that froth has formed on the top of the lassi and that’s the correct stage.  Pour into individual glasses. Garnish with crushed Pistachios and few pomegranate seeds. Serve it chilled. You can also add one ice-cube in serving glass.
